The Veil Nebula spans about 6 times the diameter of the full moon, extends for about 2,400 light-years, and is the result of a star’s explosion about 5,000 years ago.
In the image, taken by Cristiano Gualco , it is possible to see that the gases ejected by the explosion are still expanding and glowing. The Veil Nebula is a reminder of the power and beauty of the universe, and proof that stars are born, live, and die, creating new forms of life in their wake.
